Historical Walk

Want to try something different? Wander along our historical walk to see some of the oldest buildings in Wagga.

Start on the Johnston St corner. Head along Fitzmaurice St, past the 2WG sign – in 1932 this was Wagga’s first radio station.

A walk along Fitzmaurice Street will take you past the Federation-era School of Arts building, the Commercial Bank, the Post and Telegraph Office and the Wagga Courthouse. A standout is the Art Deco Romano’s Hotel, recently refurbished.

At the end of the street is Wagga’s oldest building - a small stone house attached to the Riverina Hotel. Across the street is the site of the former Hampton Bridge. From here, there is a walking track back along the river!
